TIPS ON NECKLACE LENGTH
Here are some basic guidelines to help you choose the right length of your necklace to match your outfit. The standard chain length is 16 to 20 inches, and sits just between the base of the throat and the collarbone, for most people. Just like style, the correct length for you is based on your personal taste. You should also have different sizes and styles of necklaces for your different occasions and dressing.

Necklace chains for women usually range from 10 to 48 inches and anywhere in between. The shorter the necklace, the more important its size. Necklaces that are too short may not fit at all.

Standards Necklace Length For Men
Most chain lengths for men fall at the collar bone, around 20 inches in length. For necklaces with a medallion, cross, or dog tag, a slightly longer length is suggested. Multiple chains of varying lengths may be worn for a layered look.
